Recreo VR Partners with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust
We're proud to announce our partnership with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) to help staff better support people living with dementia through personalised virtual reality (VR) experiences.
This collaboration reflects something we've always believed at Recreo VR: the most meaningful technology is created with the people who use it.
Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, patients and healthcare professionals have worked alongside our team to help shape the VR experiences available. Together, they've requested content inspired by personal memories, favourite places, lifelong hobbies and meaningful moments, ensuring every experience feels relevant, engaging and personal.
A Collaborative Approach to Dementia Care
Every person living with dementia has their own story, interests and life experiences. That's why person-centred care is so important.
Through our partnerships, patients have been able to influence the content they would most like to experience in VR, while staff have shared valuable insight into the types of experiences that encourage conversation, reduce anxiety and support wellbeing.
Whether it's revisiting a favourite seaside town, walking through a peaceful garden or returning to a place filled with happy memories, these immersive experiences help create meaningful moments that go far beyond traditional activities.
Strengthening Relationships Through Shared Experiences
The relationship between caregivers and the people they support plays a huge role in delivering high-quality dementia care.
Many older adults living in care settings don't have regular visitors or close family nearby, meaning care teams often become the people they spend the most time with each day.
Even for those with active family involvement, carers are still there for the everyday conversations, activities and routines that shape daily life. Virtual reality creates opportunities for those relationships to grow.
Instead of simply observing, staff and residents experience places together. They reminisce, laugh, share stories and often discover new things about one another. These shared moments help build trust and create stronger connections, while encouraging residents to talk about memories and experiences that might otherwise remain untold.
Part of a Growing Network of Partnerships
Our partnership with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is one of many collaborations helping us improve the lives of people living with dementia and other long-term conditions through immersive technology.
We're proud to work alongside organisations including the Alzheimer's Society, The National Trust, Age UK, Dementia Forward, Barchester Healthcare, Country Court, Cygnet and a growing number of NHS trusts, hospitals and care providers across the UK.
Each partnership helps us continue developing content that is informed by real experiences and designed around the people who use it every day.
Working with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is another important step in our mission to make virtual reality an accessible, meaningful tool within dementia care.
By listening to patients, collaborating with healthcare professionals and continually developing personalised experiences, we're helping create moments that encourage conversation, support wellbeing and celebrate the person behind the diagnosis.
